FAQs

Q1

What kinds of people seek therapy?

People from all walks of life seek therapy. Some are facing current challenges, while others want support with long-standing emotional or behavioural patterns. Therapy offers space for reflection, clarity, and support.

Q2

Is therapy guaranteed to make me feel better?

Therapy does not offer a cure or guarantee outcomes. What it offers is a safe, supportive space to explore what may be holding you back. Hypnotherapy works with subconscious patterns that influence emotions, habits, and stress, especially when insight alone hasn’t led to change. Progress is a collaborative process, depending on your readiness and goals.

Q3

Is hypnotherapy safe?

When delivered by a properly trained professional and within scope of practice, hypnotherapy is considered safe. It is not used as a replacement for medical or psychiatric care, and suitability is assessed carefully before proceeding.

Q4

Will I lose control during hypnotherapy?

No. Hypnotherapy does not involve loss of control or unconsciousness. You remain aware, oriented, and able to accept or decline suggestions at all times. Hypnosis is best understood as a state of focused attention, not surrender of will.

Q5

How do I know if this service is right for me?

You don't need to be in crisis to seek support. If you're feeling stressed, anxious, emotionally overwhelmed, or simply not like yourself, therapy could be beneficial. During your complimentary 15-minute consultation, we'll discuss your concerns and explore whether this service is the most appropriate fit for your needs. If a different form of support would better serve you, appropriate recommendations or referrals may be provided.

Q6

What if I can't be hypnotised?

Responsiveness to hypnosis varies between individuals. This does not mean therapy cannot be helpful. Hypnotherapy is adapted to each person, and if it does not appear suitable, this will be discussed and alternative approaches considered.

Q7

Will hypnotherapy replace my current treatment?

No. Hypnotherapy may be used as a primary psychological approach for appropriate concerns, or as a supportive intervention alongside medical or psychological care. Clients are advised to continue any ongoing treatment unless otherwise directed by their treating practitioner.

Q8

Who is not suitable for hypnotherapy?

Clinical hypnotherapy may not be appropriate for individuals experiencing active psychosis, hallucinations, or delusions, or for those with schizophrenia or certain other serious mental health conditions. Where more urgent, specialist, or intensive support is required, referral to an appropriate healthcare professional or service may be recommended.

Q9

Will my sessions be confidential?

Yes. Sessions are confidential and follow professional ethical standards. Confidentiality may only be broken in rare situations involving serious risk or legal obligation, and this would be discussed with you wherever possible.

Q10

Is online therapy effective?

Yes. Online therapy can be just as effective for many people and offers flexibility and convenience. You’ll need a private space, a stable internet connection, and a device with a camera and microphone. A secure link will be shared before your session.

Q11

How long is a session?

  • First session: 90 minutes

  • Subsequent sessions: 60 minutes

Q12

How many sessions will I need?

There is no fixed number of sessions. Therapy progresses at a pace that suits you, with regular reviews. Some clients choose optional maintenance sessions if they feel this is beneficial.

Q13

How often will I see my therapist?

Sessions usually begin weekly, particularly in the early phase. Over time, they may be spaced out to fortnightly or monthly, depending on your progress and professional judgement.

Q14

Can I pause therapy or take a break?

Yes, you may pause at any time. If a longer break is taken, a brief re-assessment may be needed before continuing, and we may not always resume from the same point.
